Painting Mediums & Varnishes

Jo Sonja's Tannin Blocking Sealer is ideal for preparing surfaces which are likely to "stain through" paint layers or as a Gold Leaf (real or imitation) Size. This can include knotted wood, stripped furniture and masonite. Jo Sonja's Tannin Blocking Sealer may also be used for pre-sealing items, but should not be used to apply over oily stains.

Jo Sonja's Textile & Fabric Medium is a water-based acrylic medium used to convert acrylic colours into permanent fabric paints. Once Jo Sonja's Textile & Fabric Medium is heat set, to natural and non-synthetic fibres, the garments are washable and dry-cleanable. A minimum of 50% cotton fibre content is recommended for best adhesion.

Jo Sonja's Texture Paste is used for exaggerated structure and to create 3D effects. Drying to a very hard matte finish, Jo Sonja's Texture Paste can be overpainted or mixed with acrylic colours, prior to application, to produce a coloured & textured ground. Applicable using unconvential tools, such as a cake decorating bag, Jo Sonja's Texture Paste is highly versatile - great for stenciling techniques and as a 3D collage adhesive!

Langridge Oxidising Patina is used to activate a rust or verdigris finish.

Langridge Verdigris Base is a copper-based paint which will provide a classic, real green-grey once reacted with Langridge Oxidising Patina.

Liquitex Airbrush Medium thins acrylic colours to a sprayable consistency that is ideal for airbrush applications. Liquitex Airbrush Medium may be used with acrylic paints or any water-soluble paint and will not hindering flexibility, durability or adhesion.

To use, mix 50% Liquitex Airbrush Medium to colour and mix thoroughly. More medium may be added if necessary to facilitate flow through the airbrush. Different colours may require a varying quantities of Airbrush Medium due to variation in colour pigment size and concentration.

Liquitex Gesso Primer sizes and primes while maintaining the original appearance of the surface. Applicable to surfaces such as canvas, wood and any clean porous or non-oily surface, Liquitex Gesso Primers provide the perfect "tooth" and adhesion.

Liquitex Clear Gesso Primer dries clear to translucent depending on thickness.

Liquitex Fabric Medium reduces acrylic stiffness and eliminates the need to scrub roughly textured fabrics in order for paint to adhere to the surface. Able to prevent dragging and skipping, Liquitex Fabric Medium will solve your uneven application problems!

Liquitex Flexible Modeling Paste dries slowly to a hard, yet flexible surface. Adhering to any non-oily & absorbent surface, Liquited Flexible Modeling Paste can be used to build 3D form & heavy textures on supports that may be subject to movement.

Liquitex Flexible Modeling Paste can also be mixed with acrylic colours to increase thickness and rigidity, while acting as a weak white tint.

Liquitex Flow-Aid is a fluid additive which increases the flow, absorbency & blending of any water-based paint, ink or dye. When used with soft-bodied acrylics, Liquitex Flow-Aid can create staining effects on canvas and very fluid washes.

Liquitex Fluid Glazing Mediums create brilliant, jewel-like glazes with acrylic colours. Excellent leveling & brushability. Liquitex Fluid Glazing Mediums are flexible, non-yellowing, and water-resistant when dry.

Liquitex Fluid Matte Mediums can be added to acrylic paint to create a matte, non-reflecting finish. Opaque when wet and translucent when dry, Liquitex Fluid Matte Mediums are able to extend colour, increase transparency and ease paint flow, while adding to the flexibility and adhesion of paint.
