What Kind Of Alcohol Is In Copic Markers?
Copic markers are, in general, oil-based markers. However, many definitions of oil-based markers mention the use of highly organic solvents, so often they are referred to as alcohol-based copic markers.
How To Shade With Copic Markers?
Shading with copic markers is all about the contrast of dark and light in order of making the image more realistic. The more contrasting you acheive with the colours available to you the better your picture will be. Apply a contrasting technique to each part of the image you're working with.

There are a few types of copic markers that have slight differences to allow for different effects and drawing techniques. The three types of copic markers are; copic original, copic sketch and copic ciao. Copic original markers have two different nibs with one on each side, which by default are chisel and bullet tips. These nibs are replaceable and can be swapped out making this type the most customisable of all copic markers. Copic classic markers also hold more ink over the other copic markers.
Copic markers apply colour smoothly with little streaking making them a great colouring option. This is because they are alcohol-based, however since they are not water based they are permanent and can’t be reactivated with water. They blend really well when you use layers of colour before the first colour dries. So much can be achieved with copic original markers!
