FAQs about Resin Art Supplies
What Is Resin Art
Resin art is the name given to a type of artwork that is created when a runny chemical called epoxy resin is mixed with various color pigments and additives to create a unique pattern and texture palette. As a chemical reaction between its components occurs, the resin mixture hardens (when combined with a hardener) to become a solid plastic.
How To Colour Resin
You may colour epoxy resin with a variety of materials, but each has advantages and disadvantages to consider. Art resin is a water-clear mixture that is used to cover paintings, photographs, wood, toys, and other objects. Other colourants you can use with resin include alcohol ink, resin tint and acrylic.
Resin is a wonderful and an exciting medium to use, bringing out beautiful fluid flows of colour from the pouring method. We have a variety of resin supplies and kits at discounted prices for you to be able to start your next resin art project.
While there’s a whole lot you can do to be creative with resin art, here are the basics of resin art so you can get started.
To start, you need to have a nice and strong surface to be the foundation of your resin art. Ideally it would be a strong wooden board that can withstand the resin as it is continually poured on. To finish off the preparation, spread a thin layer of resin all over the board so that it seals off the surfaces for the resin you are about to pour over it.
Now for the fun part, time to select the colours you want to mix with your pouring resin! Great to have a think of what sort of colours you want so you can get everything before you get started. Can use all sorts of colouring agents like pigment powders, coloured inks or even acrylic paints.
Grab your pouring cup and add in a bit of each of the coloured resins you’ve made, so that it holds all the colours you want. Once it is read you can begin to pour it onto the wooden board. Let it flow and let any excess resin fall off the sides. Normally, resins are poured into the centre but there are no rules here so make it however you like!
That’s it! Leave for a day or so completely dry then it will be ready to present. Make sure you grab some discounted resin art supplies from our great range above.
