Painting Mediums & Varnishes

Langridge Oxidising Patina is used to activate a rust or verdigris finish.

Jo Sonja's Texture Paste is used for exaggerated structure and to create 3D effects. Drying to a very hard matte finish, Jo Sonja's Texture Paste can be overpainted or mixed with acrylic colours, prior to application, to produce a coloured & textured ground. Applicable using unconvential tools, such as a cake decorating bag, Jo Sonja's Texture Paste is highly versatile - great for stenciling techniques and as a 3D collage adhesive!

Jo Sonja's Textile & Fabric Medium is a water-based acrylic medium used to convert acrylic colours into permanent fabric paints. Once Jo Sonja's Textile & Fabric Medium is heat set, to natural and non-synthetic fibres, the garments are washable and dry-cleanable. A minimum of 50% cotton fibre content is recommended for best adhesion.

Jo Sonja's Stroke & Blend Medium is specifically formulated for easier stroke blending and floated colour techniques. Heavier bodied than a retarder or antiquing medium, Jo Sonja's Stroke & Blend Medium will not bleed, but slows drying time to allow wet-in-wet or wet-over-dry blending.

Jo Sonja's Magic Mix Sealer dries matte and extends the drying time of acrylic colours. Ideal for glazing, tinting, side loading, floating colour, strokework, linework & fine detail painting.

Jo Sonja's Decoupage Finishing Varnish is a heavy-bodied gloss varnish which produces a thick, lacquer-like coating. Especially formulated for decoupage artists, Jo Sonja's Decoupage Finishing Varnish is ideal for hiding the cut edges of paper.

Jo Sonja's Crackle Mediums can be applied over acrylic colours to create aged and cracked background effects.

Mix Jo Sonja's Clear Glaze, with any acrylic colour, to create clear glazes or wood stains. If working with raw wood, Jo Sonja's Clear Glaze can also be used undiluted as a light sealer, or prior to varnishing as a barrier coat.

Jo Sonja's Acrylic Flow Medium is used to thin acrylic colours and mediums, dilute binders or reduce adhesive qualities. High versatile, Jo Sonja's Acrylic Flow Medium can be mixed to produce a smoother paint showing no brush marks or remarkably long strokes with very fine detail and definition. If airbrushing, try mixing 3 parts Jo Sonja's Acrylic Flow Medium and 1 part acrylic paint.

Derivan Spreader is a transparent, flowing paste which is hardly discernible when dry. Imparting fine flow, controlled spreadability & lubrication, Derivan Spreader is primarily used for glazing and spreading large volumes of colour.

Derivan Print Gel can be mixed with acrylic colours to keep paint wet & from clogging the screen mesh. For use on paper, board or fabric (in conjunction with a fabric fixative), Derivan Printing Gel increases colour transparency while also being suitable for use as a craft glue.

Derivan Cracking Medium, when sandwiched between two layers of Matisse Background Colours, creates a cracked & weathered look. Derivan Cracking Medium is water-based and may not perform as well with other brands of paint.
